Manawatu’s economic development agency, CEDA is responsible for delivering growth through business attraction, development and retention, building and growing a sustainable talent and skills pool, building our reputation as a great region to host major events and conferences, and promoting Manawatu to visitors and international students as a great place to live, study, work and visit.
Our Business Growth Advisors work with businesses in the wider Horizons Region to help support and enhance their capabilities through the Regional Business Partner Network (RBPN), which is supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), Business Mentors New Zealand (BMNZ) and Callaghan Innovation. From start-ups and SME’s to large scale companies, CEDA’s focus is on capability development for businesses, supporting innovation and growth, giving guidance on exporting, as well as development and training opportunities. Our Events team supports and works with organisers of major events and conferences in the region. They also manage the Major Events Fund which provides funding for events that attract visitors from outside the region and enhances the vibrancy of Palmerston North and Manawatu. Round Two is just about to open.
Our Regional Tourism team is responsible for showcasing living, working and visiting Manawatu and works with national partners to do so. Their work results in national media features on the region and can be found in various campaigns, on digital and social media channels, as well as the regional tourism website www.ManawatuNZ.co.nz. They also work with regional tourism operators and event organisers, providing support through the CEDA Resource Hub, which is a collection of free resources from marketing support through to insights.
CEDA also provides monthly, quarterly and annual data and reports on the region’s economic performance, growth opportunities and challenges.
Our teams at Palmerston North City i-SITE and Feilding and District Information Centre assist visitors and residents across the region with local expert information on accommodation, activities, events, and travel throughout New Zealand. They are the front face of the city and district, and are a key part of our visitor experience as well as our local community.
