The second round of the Major Events Fund kicks off today, with applications now open.
The Major Events Fund, for Manawatū, was established in late 2017 by CEDA on behalf of Manawatū District and Palmerston North City Councils, to support significant regional events that generate local economic activity and development for the region, enhance vibrancy and community pride within Manawatū, and attract visitors from outside the region.
Applicants can apply for new and existing major events that show a track record of growth or growth potential. The funding is to be used for marketing costs, strategic plan developments or the engagement of short-term specialised personnel, and is distributed through a 12-month contract between CEDA and each of the successful applicants.
"Events are an important part of the regions economic fabric, as they make a positive contribution to our region by enhancing visitor experience, creating a vibrant place to live for residents and bringing in economic value" says Linda Stewart, Chief Executive of CEDA.
“CEDA's vision for Manawatū is to be New Zealand’s most progressive region by 2025, and major events are a key part of working towards achieving this vision - so we're excited to be supporting this space on behalf of the region"
