E Tipu: The Boma Agri Summit coming to Manawatū in 2024

Aotearoa’s biggest food and fibre sector summit is coming to Manawatū 18-19 June 2024

E Tipu started in Ōtautahi - Christchurch in 2019, and has become the largest food and fibre summit in the national calendar. Each year it brings together remarkable speakers and changemakers to share mind-blowing insights, ignite vital conversations and help shape the future of our primary industries.

It is for this reason that CEDA partnered with our counterparts at ChristchurchNZ to develop a joint bid to the Boma team to bring this annual event into the North Island, with a year-about hosting partnership between Manawatū and Christchurch now firmly in play which will see E Tipu hosted here for the first time in Manawatū in 2024.

Manawatū District's Mayor Helen Worboys who recently attended last weeks Christchurch event alongside CEDA's CEO Jerry Shearman and Palmerston North's Mayor Grant Smith, says bringing this event to our region is a great opportunity for the sector.

"What a fantastic opportunity this is to showcase our flourishing food and fibre sector to attendees from around the world."

"This is a chance to highlight the world-class education and research institutes situated right here in our region, and our diverse agrifood ecosystem from our grassroots producers and fine dining facilities through to our innovators and scientists, says Helen.

"Sharing knowledge through this event also provides inspiration and connections to those working in the food sector as well as those thinking about entering the industry", adds Mayor Helen.

E Tipu: The Boma Agri Summit has become a critical platform for informed, thoughtful, future-focused dialogue around the issues that really matter for Oceania's primary sector, and Jerry Shearman, CEO of CEDA looks forward to having a successful event in Manawatū next year.

"Combining intel and expertise between Ōtautahi - Christchurch, and Manawatū, who are both leaders in agrifood innovation, is a perfect collaboration opportunity bringing experts together to deliver a significant world-class event".

"This event exists as a catalyst for our food and fibre sector to become more innovative, sustainable and profitable - now and into the future," adds Jerry.

"We are thrilled to work together with Boma to bring E-Tipu: The Boma Agri Summit to Manawatū next year and the opportunity it will present not only to our thriving agrifood sector but as an opportunity to show off our beautiful region and all there is to offer," says Jerry.
