PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES

As the economic development agency for Manawatū, we wear many hats - often working quietly behind the scenes to bring big ideas and bold initiatives to life. While our strategic work is central to what we do (you can explore that here), there’s another side to CEDA that’s just as impactful: the hands-on projects, events, partnerships, and campaigns that help our region thrive.

This portfolio is where you’ll find those tangible examples - proof of the mahi we’re doing every day to drive growth, innovation, and resilience across Manawatū. From supporting local businesses and startups to backing community events and sector development, this is where the cool stuff lives.

Palmy & Manawatū

We’re the stewards of our region’s brand identity and manage ManawatūNZ – the regional website that acts as a ‘shop window’ to the city and district.

Employer Workplace Hub

Alongside the tools and resources on the CEDA website, this free hub helps take businesses to the next level.

Resource Hub

As the Regional Tourism Organisation for Manawatū, we support the growth of the visitor sector through resources that build capability – this mahi is part of our Destination Management Plan.

Land Diversification Initiative

Through the Manawatū Food Strategy, we’ve developed practical tools like the Crop Suitability Map and Land Diversification Report to support farmers and landowners exploring new land use options.

Regional Business Partners

We help local businesses access funding and support through the Regional Business Partner Network, connecting them to expert advice and growth opportunities.

Sector Stories

We profile the people and businesses that keep our region ticking - highlighting what it’s like to live, work and play in Manawatū.

Visitor Campaigns

We promote our region to domestic travellers through targeted campaigns, including ‘Wait, What?’ – a three-month local advocacy campaign under our Destination Management Plan.

Manawatū Signage

We’ve brought the region’s identity to life through bold, place-based signage across the rohe – building pride, visibility and a sense of belonging for locals and visitors alike.

Hei Ara Kōrero

An interactive digital platform developed with Rangitāne o Manawatū, sharing the stories of six culturally significant sites along te awa o Manawatū through maps, audio, video, and immersive experiences.
