Building a nationally distinctive visitor experience in Manawatū
As part of CEDA's strategic focus on cluster development and destination management, the Manawatū Garden Festival brings together a collective of private and public gardens to showcase the region's unique visitor offering.
The annual festival first launched in 2023 and has since had strong growth in participation from gardens and visitor numbers. This event helps to showcase the strength and diversity of horticultural experiences across Manawatū. The annual event that takes place in November is designed to drive shoulder season visitation and invite both locals and visitors to explore the region's natural beauty.
CEDA's role in establishing and growing the festival is underpinned by the region's Destination Management Plan, which calls for the development of distinctive visitor experiences that align with consumer demand and leverage our regional strengths. With strong interest in gardens and the outdoors from our target markets, the festival provides a compelling platform to boost visitation, regional spending, and community pride.
