CEDA and The National Driver Training Centre Partnership

The National Driver Training Centre (NDTC) endeavours to build the capabilities of business and people through its driving courses. They have courses in a range of driving classes from a Class 1 car drivers licence through to heavy vehicle training courses in Class 2 – 5.

As Manawatū positions itself as a Transport, Logistics and Distribution Hub and invests in infrastructure projects, as well as the ever-growing demand for residential and commercial construction, CEDA’s partnership with the National Driver Training Centre is key to developing a workforce that have the right skills to work in this critical sector. Businesses require access to skilled workers to operate, innovate, and be productive which is key to a successful Manawatū economy.

CEDA connects the National Driver Training Centre to businesses who are requiring skilled drivers to support them achieve their role in building the regions talent pipeline. NDTC and CEDA work together with iwi, industries, businesses, secondary schools, and tertiary providers to boost skilled driver levels to increase Manawatū’s talent pool.  Located in Feilding, NDTC’s world class training facilities are available for hire by industry or training providers. Their custom-built facility provides a closed training environment with real-world simulations from earthworks to warehouse forklift simulations. Additionally, they have dedicated classrooms for theory work. These facilities can also be hired by external training providers who have their own in-house training. This provides the opportunity for big industries to upskill their team in a safe and controlled environment.

With more than $4 billion of significant infrastructure projects underway and planned in the next decade, such as Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Highway and KiwiRail’s Regional Freight Hub, the demand for skilled local people is increasing and CEDA and our partnership with NDTC aims to get locals skilled and into work.
