Support your migrant workforce

Great news! The borders are opening. So what does that mean for businesses?

The Government has confirmed the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) will be introduced on 4 July 2022. Here is what you need to know as an employer:

  • Employers and businesses are encouraged to train, upskill and look to the local talent pool where possible. But when genuine skill or labour shortages exist, accredited employers can hire skilled migrant workers using the AEWV.
  • Employers must be accredited to employ migrants on the new visa.
  • Applications for accreditation will open on 9 May 2022.

If you need any additional assistance as you go through the accreditation process, please get in touch with the team at CEDA.

What does this mean for migrants? Once an employer has been accredited for the AEWV and has an approved job check, jobseekers can apply for an AEWV. Applications for the visa open on 4 July 2022.

Do you have employees that need help with English?

English Language Partners (ELP) is the only national provider of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), providing social support for adult migrants and former refugees from non-English speaking backgrounds who have resident or citizen status in New Zealand.

ELP has a dedicated ‘English for Employees’ programme, tailored to support people in work. Here they work directly with employers and businesses to support their migrant workforce to improve their English communication, intercultural and reporting skills. There is a strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing to ensure learners are confident and safe at work.
