Global Entrepreneur Linda Jenkinson and former Black Ferns Captain, Dr Farah Palmer recently presented in an inspiring new webinar series to support Manawatū businesses. The webinars, which are free to attend, are part of Te Aho Tāmaka Manawatū Leaders: Embracing Change series, which will run fortnightly until mid-July.
A highly accomplished businesswoman, Jenkinson reflected on her journey and the challenges of losing half her revenue in the aftermath of 9/11, surviving the dotcom bubble and the Global Financial Crisis. She explained how her businesses survived and then thrived, sharing creative ideas to support businesses in this time of recovery.
One participant described Linda’s presentation as ‘possibly the best message I’ve heard through COVID-19′ while another said ‘Linda gave personal examples of her experiences in very difficult times. It was that as much as the practical strategies that have given me a boost in clarity and confidence to forge ahead.’
In a separate webinar Palmer spoke of the influence of Māori culture and knowledge in organisational change, and how to ‘care’ for people within organisations from a Māori perspective. Participants commented that the webinar ‘challenged me to think about my business culture’ and ‘in these times, we need more inspiration, more people of mana and social conscious to speak, lead and motivate. A total of seven Te Aho Tāmaka Leaders will use the webinar series as an opportunity to give back to the region during a time when the community needs inspiration more than ever. The series of webinars truly reflects the diversity of leaders involved in Te Aho Tāmaka and their areas of expertise.
The next webinar in this series will see former Group CFO of Adidas, Robin Stalker, calling in from Germany to discuss responsible Capitalism and decision-making post COVID-19, while ex-Spark CEO Simon Moutter will reflect on business learnings from the recent crisis and how businesses can be better prepared in the future.
Other leaders involved in the series include the Hon. Steve Maharey, Sir David Moxon and Vanisa Dhiru, each with their own expertise and passions to inspire and lead. These leaders have all called Manawatū home for a significant period of their life, it has influenced who they are today, and they feel a strong connection to the region.
