Te Utanganui Video Showcase

Te Utanganui Video Showcase

At the recent Economic Development New Zealand Awards last month, Te Utanganui received the ‘Best Practice Commendation for Integrated Planning’ award, offering an opportunity to share this significant project to people across New Zealand.

Off the back of this award, we’re proud to share the story of Te Utanganui with you, so that you or your business might see yourself as a part of its future.

The video offers a peek into what this project will look like in years to come, while showcasing a multi modal distribution hub set to boost central New Zealand’s distribution and logistics sector.

Here’s what you should know...

Te Utanganui is a unique multi modal distribution hub in the lower North Island of New Zealand, consisting of rail, road, air, and sea connections

Located in the heart of the North Island, the hub complements the Golden Triangle (Auckland-Hamilton-Tauranga) and southern Christchurch nodes, providing the third node in New Zealand’s national transport and freight network, perfectly positioned in central New Zealand.

The timeliness of this project along with the key building blocks are well in place. Manawatū is currently experiencing unprecedented levels of growth fuelled by significant public and private investment with more than $8 billion of transport and infrastructure investment planned and under way in the next 10 years.

In fact, some of that investment is already making Te Utanganui its home. Taking advantage of the ability to access one of three national airports that move freight 24/7, large scale distribution centres like Toyota New Zealand, Countdown, EziBuy and FoodStuffs are located on site, with more sites ready to go.

Our partnerships are key to the success of the project and include Rangitāne o Manawatū Settlement Trust,  Ngāti Kauwhata, Waka Kotahi, Ruapehu Business Park, Palmerston North Airport Limited, KiwiRail and Horizons Regional Council

Te Utanganui is a game-changer for our region and its people. With the ability to generate an estimated 3,000 additional jobs over the next 30 years and employment across the wider economy, this hub will help our region thrive now, and into the future. How might you get involved?
